Hi guys! It’s been forever! I have some recipes lined up, but just haven’t sat to write the posts! Stay tuned for more regular stuff coming up!
Here’s a quick and easy dessert you can make for when it’s cold out and you need something to warm you right up! Hot milk pudding, or sahleb haleeb, is thick and creamy and topped with nuts and warm spices to soothe the soul. Enjoy!
Sahleb Haleeb (serves 1)
1 cup of milk (2% works well)
1-2 tbsp corn starch
Sugar to your tasting ( I used about a tbsp)
In a saucepan, heat milk and sugar constantly whisking on medium high heat.
Once the milk has turned lukewarm, add in cornstarch and continue to whisk, reducing to medium heat.
Once the milk starts to boil, check to see how it’s thickening. You can make it to your liking. Less cornstarch yields a thinner texture, more cornstarch turns it more pudding like. You may have to take it on and off the heat if it wants to boil over.
Once it has reached your desired consistency, pour it into a mug and top with cinnamon, walnuts, pine nuts and shredded coconut.
You can drink it or eat with a spoon! Enjoy :).
